A senior aide to President-elect Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 after joining Biden for a campaign trip to Georgia on Tuesday.
Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) accompanied Biden to stump for two Georgia Democratic Senate candidates ahead of a Jan. 5 runoff election.
His positive test, disclosed by Biden’s transition office on Thursday, follows a Wednesday positive diagnosis for a journalist on the trip.
Biden, 79, was filmed removing his mask to speak with people during the trip. He has tested negative for the virus. He’s not scheduled to receive a COVID-19 vaccine until next week.
Richmond is tapped to be a senior adviser to Biden in the White House, a position currently held by Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
