A missing California mom’s body was found floating in a canal after she failed to show up at her new job at Amazon, authorities said.
Chenin Carlson, 36, was identified Wednesday as the body uncovered in an aqueduct in Tracy, just down the road from where she was set to start her new job at the tech giant, news station CBS13 reported.
Carlson, a mom of two young children, had been reported missing Saturday when she never arrived at her new office.
But on Sunday, two fishermen spotted her body bobbing in the water.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office determined that her death was a homicide, but didn’t release any information about the circumstances surrounding her death, the outlet reported.
They’re searching for her missing 2008 gray Honda Pilot for clues into the mysterious case.
Before the body was identified as Carlson, her husband was holding out hope that she would return home, CBS13 reported.
“We’re waiting to see if she comes home,” he said, calling her disappearance a “tough time.”
Authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday at her home in Manteca, the outlet reported. No arrests have been made.
